In 1928 Grigol Robakidze’s novel The Snake Skin was published by Deiderich Verlag, Yena, with Stefan Zweig’s introduction. The correspondence that started at the time of translation and publication grew into friendship between the two writers.
G.Robakidze’s Swiss archive is considered to be lost, which means there are no letters written by Zweig to him. Fortunately, Robakidze’s letters to Zweig were discovered in the latter’s archive in New York.
It is the first time Robakidze’s letters are translated into Georgian. They offer diverse information hitherto unknown to the wide circle of interested readers. The letters were translated by Natia Purtseladze, who also wrote the introduction and comments.
