Employed by the Red Cross, Ivane Arjevanidze served in Achara during the World War I. His job gave him the opportunity of regular meetings with Davit Kldiashvili, the master of Georgian prose. Without undue exaggeration, Ivane Arjevanidze’s memoirs are extremely significant not only for enriching Davit Kldiashvili’s biographical material, but for eye-witness rendition of the interesting history of ‘the Muslim part’ of Georgia.
