His career coincided with a difficult historical period and he experienced much of what he recounted in his truthful memoirs. Among them were his meetings with Stalin, which the Soviet censorship refused to make public. Many years later his grandson, also Akaki Vasadze, published them in the magazine Teatri da Tsovreba (Theatre and Life).
