Titsian and His Friends

Nino Tabidze (Makashvili), the widow of the outstanding poet Titsian Tabidze, began writing her memoirs in 1934 and continued well into the 1960s. Frail and aging, she sometimes dictated certain episodes to her family members. The book is extremely valuable because it deals with the highly artistic years of independent Georgia, tells about the cultural life of nearly fifty years starting with the Blue Horn group of symbolists, recounts about the friendly connection between Russian and Georgian poets at the beginning of the 20th century.

The present publication is complete thanks to the fact that it includes some letters exchanged between Titsian Tabidze and Boris Pasternak. Most of the documentary material is accompanied by comments.

The book is published with the support of the Georgian Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection.
