This multi-volume book focuses on practically all the works of Professor Sergi Makalatia (1893-1974), a recognized researcher of Georgian history and ethnography, expert of local lore, archaeologist, numismatist and founder of several museums. These works will help modern readers to understand and get to know his great achievements. It should be taken into account that most of the works were published only once during the scientist’s life.
The book is dedicated to the historical-ethnographic essay “Tusheti” published as a separate book in 1933, which is based on the material obtained by the scientist as a result of the expedition organized in the summer of the same year. The author provides us with interesting information about the beautiful nature of Tusheti, its wealth, the character and life of the Tushi people.
This work, which became a bibliographic rarity, was published again in 1983 by Professor Tedo Uturgaidze. The reprint has been supplemented with illustrative material.
