Levan Bregadze
A literary historian and critic, Ph.D. in Literature (2005), Member of Gelati Academy (2003), Laureate of The Literary Saba Award (three times).
He was born in 1947 in Tkibuli, west Georgia. After finishing school in his native town, in 1965-74 he studied Georgian Philology and Journalism in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi University.
At various times he worked as a deputy editor of Kritika, the almanac of the Georgian Writers’ Union, an editor in Translation Committee, a deputy editor of the newspaper Mamuli, an editor of the newspaper Mshobliuri Kera, the magazine Kartuli Mtserloba and the magazine of Gelati Academy of Sciences; also as the department head of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature.
He is the author of twenty books and more than 300 academic and critical articles and essays. The areas of his interest include: history and theory of literature, literary criticism, history and theory of journalism, folklore and linguistics.
