A King and a Gardener

This book has two main characters – the great king of France Louis XIV so-called "Sun King" and "The gardener of the kings or the king of the gardeners" – André Le Nôtre. However besides these characters we encounter many other famous or less known persons in the book such as a wonderful painter Charles Le Brun and a great architect Louis Le Vau, king's superintendent Nicholas Fouquet – a noble and proud man who tried to compete with the king with his wealth and ended up dying in the fortress of Pinerolo for this; then there is the king's majordomo Francois Vatel with his dreadful, tragic story. You will even come across D'Artagnan. And last but not least in front of you will rise the sublime palace of Versailles, a heaven on Earth.
