The aim of the publication is to introduce August von Haxhausen, a German economist, lawyer, writer and agricultural scientist. He is best known for his extensive work about the Russian Empire, which he visited in 1843. As part of his six-month visit to different regions, he came to Georgia, which he described in his two-volume work The Transcaucasia published in Leipzig in 1856.
