The collection of articles is devoted to the study of Colchis in the 8th-1st centuries BCE, the internal and external political relationships of the region and the most important events in its history, as well as complex ethnic and economic processes. The book is divided into three parts: the rise of the urban civilization and statehood genesis; early contacts with the Aegean and Asia Minor in the early antiquity (the 8th-4th centuries BCE) and contacts with the Hellenic world, Ionian colonization and emergence of new urban areas on the Black Sea coast.
The book also includes three articles dealing with the relationship between Rome and Iberia in the 2nd century CE, the relationship between Egrisi and Kartli kingdoms and the ethno-political issues of Abkhazian history.
