Readers are well aware that Galaktioni’s life was unusual and extraordinary. But where does the line lie between the circulating legends and the truth? You won’t find the answer to this question either in the poet’s official biographies or in the myths woven around his name.

The protagonist of our book is the real, earthly Galaktioni.

Based on documentary material - the poet’s diaries, notes, and his contemporaries’ recollections - these stories reveal unexpected episodes from Galaktioni’s life and portray a person who turned his very existence into a performance in order to cope with loneliness, injustice, and fear.

“Galaktioni - Unusual and Ordinary” presents a broad portrait of the creator who, in the newly independent Georgia, conquered the dazzling heights of poetry with his "Artistic Flowers" early in his youth, and who later, amidst the storm that swept through his homeland, never sought refuge - living in a totalitarian state where, as he himself confessed, “not a single day was peaceful or painless”.
